We are delighted to announce the appointment of Helen Johnson as Director. Helen brings 30 years’ experience in pharma consulting and in industry to our senior team, and brings to our clients across the globe her broad expertise across multiple specialist areas.
A former practising commercial lawyer, Helen’s career to date spans pharmaceutical regulation and licensing, healthcare policy, market access and value demonstration, public affairs, political communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
After eleven years at pharmaceutical company Roche, Helen founded HJCL, an independent healthcare consultancy, specialising in public affairs, policy and market access, with a particular emphasis on supporting clients through health technology assessment (HTAs), regulatory and HTA scientific advice, pricing and reimbursement negotiations.
Over the last nineteen years, Helen has led, managed or otherwise been involved in more than 70 HTA projects (including 40 individual product submissions) across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain, on behalf of more than 25 different clients (including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, professional groups and patient advocacy organisations) and across a wide range of therapy areas: cardiology, oncology, metabolic diseases, anti-infectives, musculoskeletal conditions, mental health, neurological conditions, ophthalmology and alcohol dependence. Recent UK HTA evidence submissions and value dossiers written or co-written by Helen include products for lysosomal storage disorders for inherited metabolic conditions, metastatic melanoma, ovarian cancer, alcohol dependence, acute bacterial soft tissue infections and major depressive disorder.
Helen has a BA in Law (first class) from the University of Kent at Canterbury and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. In November 2021, she completed an MSc in History and Philosophy of Science at University College London, passing with Distinction.
She was Chair of the UK Association of Professional Political Consultants from 2010 to 2012 and enjoys singing in London Show Choir, jogging and history.
